ABOUT THE OWNERS

Our journey sparked back in College (Texas A&M, Whoop!) when we worked together at a local coffee shop. Getting to help build an environment and create experiences around such a fun beverage birthed a crazy dream in us. We founded Edison in a continued pursuit of that dream. Edison is not only ingrained in our family name... It's in our desire to explore, create, have fun, and grow together with coffee and people. It is our hope to use this business as a vessel to build-up, cultivate, and inspire. Thank you for being a part of it!

Owner - Special Ops (SPOPS!)

Former Coach & Teacher… still dedicated to learning. Her passions are community, team dynamics, small business operations, creativity, and fun. Catch her watching Aggie Football, laughing at J, or taking Rey Charles (their two labs) on walks around the Flower Mound trails.

Owner - Big Ideas Guy

What doesn’t James Edison McWhorter V do? He’s like a jack of all trades except he’s actually the best at everything he does, like a “James of all trades”. 

If you’ve been to our shop, then you’ve witnessed the work of his hand and the blood, sweat, and tears that he has poured into this place. He’s full of ideas - most of which have to do with barrel aging anything that humans can drink to see what it will taste like, you name it, he’s tried it.

Brandon

Green Coffee Buyer - Web Development - Strategic Projects

Brandon was with us in the earliest days of Edison when he and J first learned how to roast coffee. “Trial and error” has since shaped his approach to almost everything. Now he’s our green coffee buyer and helps to develop our relationships with producers and coffee quality!

Catch him if you can to talk about where our coffees come from and why each offering is so special… You’ll need a bit of time to spare though.

Head Roaster

General nerd; probably reading or playing D&D. Father to Eloise (human daughter) and Remus (K9 son). Maker of bad jokes; everyone loves it. He’s passionate about roasting coffee and cultivating relationships with coffee producers, as well as constantly pursuing furthering education. Has been in coffee for 10 years.

Miranda

Wholesale Manager

Miranda has been working in coffee for the past 4 years. As time went on, she discovered a passion for the community it fosters as well as the inherent creativity it promotes and ended up here at Edison!

If she's not slingin' spro, you can find her developing her studio practice (she's also a painter), going on long walks, throwing down in the kitchen, or spending time with loved ones.

Brooke

Head Trainer

Brooke has beeen working in Coffee since 2014. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from Dallas Baptist University in 2012, and also works as a realtor for Beaver Real Estate Group. She excels at taking care of our wholesale clients with diligence, kindness, and care. People are her passion and she loves getting to be a part of their coffee jouneys. When she’s not making real estate deals or helping clients, you can find her reading, writing, or playing fetch with her mini-aussie Juniper.

Marketing - Photography

Sole has been at Edison for quite a while and worn many hats over her time here. She is lead of the marketing team and loves getting to capture the heart and culture of the Edison through photos.

She is a mom to her favorite little Silas and wife to sweet Grant. Favorite current pastimes are gardening, cooking, and baking. She is unable to have a coffee without a pastry, and not trying to break the habit.

He performed his tasks with care, and in time, he was granted the gift of servanthood to the Bean, forged in the flame of Diedrich. There he bides his time, dreaming of ways to shock his fellow employees, win the hearts of customers, and claim the Edson throne. For what is roasted in darkness must ultimately come to the light…

Maria came to Edison fresh off the boat from Australia with 9 years experience in the coffee industry there.

Her biggest passion is hospitality: ensuring people are valued and cared for. She’s all about the details and her constant pursuit of excellence in serving drives her forward.

“The way you do anything is the way you do everything” has always been one of her mottos as she is motivated through self discipline, personal leadership, and growing her strengths.

I’m a high energy creative, I have 1000 ideas that I want to start right now, but I’m also into spending hours alone in nature unplugged (while maybe thinking of booking flights and trying new activities haha).
