We are so excited to have Flora Ramos back on our offering list for the 6th year here at Edison! We are continually impressed with the hard work Flora puts into producing this coffee, and we always enjoy tasting how this harvest changes year after year. On the cupping table, this Huehue has pronounced notes of sweet green apple, floral essence, and a full-bodied, warm brown sugar. We love this coffee!

The name of the farm is ‘Las Gemelas’, which translates into ‘The Twins’. Flora Ramos, owner of the farm, has twin daughters, her two primary motivators for getting up to work every day. She started as a producer approximately 30 years ago, originally working together with her husband. Together, they learned all of the practices and processes that she carries out today. After ten years, her husband passed away; since then, Flora has stayed in charge of the farm, while simultaneously continuing the work of taking care of her family. Of course, this is no small nor easy thing, yet Flora’s dedication has yielded to a wonderful flourishing of her family and her farm. We find that the proof of the dedication is readily apparent within the coffee.

The Las Gemelas farm is located in El Pajal village, San Antonio Huista, Huehuetenango. The farm has an average altitude of 1650 meters above sea level. The farm has Caturra, Paches, Bourbon and Catuai varieties. Flora also values commitment to the environment, which to her means not only improving the quality of the coffee but improving it in such a way that it doesn’t negatively impact the ecosystem. In the future, she hopes to invest in a wet mill and to complete a soil and foliage analysis across her farm.
